The annual Parlour Players production this year will be ‘Bazaar and Rummage’ a comedy by Sue Townsend.
You’ve probably heard of the Adrian Mole books but may not be aware that the author wrote plays before coming a novelist. This comedy was one of her earlier works, first performed in 1982.
Glenda, the leader of a self-help group and an ex-agoraphobic herself, has persuaded three agoraphobic women to leave their houses for the first time in years, and they have made it to a jumble sale, organised by Glenda and their social worker, Fliss. As the afternoon progresses, however the distinction between them becomes less and less clear, and we find out more about their individual fears as they sort through the items for sale.
