SRA were concerned to see the following post on social media and want to make residents aware:
A lady had parked at the station and was told by someone that the Ringo parking machine was not working and so use the temporary one. Her card was ‘swallowed’ as she was told that she had taken too long. She got on the train and contacted her card issuer to find that it has already been used to try and withdraw £500 from an ATM.
Apparently all releveant organisations have been informed.
STOPRRESS – This seems to have occurred at the Council carpark opposite the shops by Sanderstead station which has a Ringo machine where you can pay by phone using the Ringo number or by the council app or put coins in the machine, but it does not take credit cards. The machines in the station carpark use APCOA and can either pay by using the APCOA app or you scan the QR code but there is no facility to put in a credit card.
Presumably somebody installed a dummy machine in the council car park.
