Sanderstead Library listed for closure – Consultation will be ‘live’ later this week following an online webinar on Wednesday, 7th February

Further to our earlier post about Sanderstead Library being under threat again, we have to inform you that the Council Cabinet meeting last Wednesday approved the proposals – see link below for further details of the proposals. 

The proposal has to now go out to consultation to the public. The Friends of Sanderstead Library have had meetings and will be producing some points to make once we have seen the exact questions. You may wish to wait until you have had a chance to read these points before you complete the consultation, which will run for ten weeks.

You are encouraged to attend an online webinar this Wednesday, 7th February, from 7pm to 8.30pm where the proposals will be outlined. See the link below where you can join the webinar from 6pm.

We are consulting residents on changes to the library service. We want to make it easier for more people across the borough to enjoy books, access the internet and take part in community activities. New proposals include: longer opening hours including Saturdays improved facilities in fewer library buildings more staff to provide a new outreach service The proposals were discussed at the council Cabinet meeting on 31 January.  Full details of the proposals can be found on our committee pages Agenda item 8. Join us for an online webinar on Wednesday 7 February, from 7pm to 8:30pm where Councillor Andy Stranack, cabinet member for communities and culture, and director for culture and community safety, Kristian Aspinall, will explain the proposals and answer questions. Please send your questions in advance to librariesconsultation@croydon.gov.uk Residents will have opportunities to feedback on the proposals through a series of meetings and events in the libraries and via an online survey which will be live after the webinar.
