The Purley Leisure centre plans are now available for public viewing and comment under reference 24/00775/FUL.
Sanderstead Residents’ Association provided comments during the pre-application stage saying that the planned parking provision was inadequate. The current multi-storey car park has over 400 spaces and the application has only 32 spaces for the leisure centre. We also said there should be a drop off area – particularly for coaches when school groups visit. Neither of these issues has been addressed in the submitted plans.
The plans include:
- two new pools
- huge gym
- restaurant & bar
- shops
- large community square
- improved access from High Street to the station
- 220 “Integrated Retirement Community” flats
- 50 short-term car spaces + 28 for residents
