Riddlesdown Residents’ Association have informed us that they have been advised that Croydon Council will be starting an informal consultation, which will run from Monday 6th May until Sunday 26th May 2024 about a proposal to install a healthy School Street Zone for streets in and near to Riddlesdown Collegiate.
The streets included in the proposed Zone will be; Dunmail Drive (adopted end), Honister Heights, Grisedale Gardens, Grisedale Close, Derwent Drive, Eskdale Gardens and part of Ingleboro Drive up to the Buttermere Gardens junction from the Eskdale Gardens junction.
Apparently letters have been sent to residents and businesses within250 metres of the Zone on Friday 3 May, inviting everyone to give their views on the proposals, via the Council’s Get Involved page (see link at bottom of the page – it should be uploaded by the Council on Tuesday 7th May). The Collegiate will be sending out links to the survey to parents as well.
The results of the consultation and recommendations will be presented at the July Cabinet meeting. If a decision is made by Cabinet to proceed with some, or all of the proposals, the Council will be carrying out the statutory consultation in August/September with implementation during the Autumn term.
The pdf plan, indicating the size of the proposed school street Zones is on the following link:
Proposed School Street Zones for Riddlesdown Collegiate May 2024
The hours of operation of the school street will be Monday – Friday 8am – 9:30am and 2pm – 4pm and are applicable during term time only (although the notice boards erected in other school areas don’t actually say that).
This will also affect those visitors who park in these streets for visiting Riddlesdown Open Space, and they will not be able to travel in these streets during the allocated times.
Apparently all deliveries to residents, like Amazon and food deliveries etc living within the Zone are not allowed in, during the allocated times and will have to park outside the Zone or incur a fine.
