We have received the following information which will impact heavily on local traffic and local buses routes:

PN125 – CROYDON COUNCIL
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT, 1984, SECTION 14
AS AMENDED AND THE ROAD TRAFFIC (TEMPORARY RESTRICTIONS) ACT 1991
PURLEY DOWNS ROAD, PURLEY OAKS ROAD, SUNDOWN AVENUE & SANDERSTEAD HILL,
SOUTH CROYDON – TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF VEHICULAR TRAFFIC

  1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that to facilitate gas main replacement work by
    SGN, they intend to make an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict
    vehicular traffic on the above roads.
  2. Whilst the said works are taking place the roads/sections of road detailed below will be closed.
  3. Sundown Avenue – From No 1 to its junction with Sanderstead Hill – from Monday 4th to Friday 15th August
  4. Sanderstead Hill – from Sundown Avenue junction to No 52 – from Monday 4th to Friday 15th August
  5. Purley Downs Road – at its junction with Sanderstead Hill – from Monday 4th to Friday 15th August
  6. Purley Oaks Road – at its junction with Sanderstead Hill – from Friday 15th to Friday 29th August
  7. Whilst the closures are in place the diversion routes for traffic will be as detailed below.
     Sundown Avenue – via Farm Fields and Sanderstead Hill.
     Sanderstead Hill Northbound – via Sanderstead Road, A235 Brighton Road, Purley Road,
    Godstone Road A23, Downs Court Road, Mitchley Avenue, and Rectory Park.
     Sanderstead Hill Southbound – via Addington Road, Selsdon Park Road, Gravel Hill,
    Coombe Lane, Coombe Road, South End, and Brighton Road.
     Purley Downs Road – via A235 Brighton Road, Purley Road, Godstone Road A23, Downs
    Court Road, Mitchley Avenue, and Rectory Park.
     Purley Oaks Road – via St Marys Road and Sanderstead Road.
  8. The Order will come into operation on 04 August 2025, and it is anticipated that the work will
    be completed as detailed above. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to
    be reintroduced should further work be required.
  9. These restrictions shall not apply in respect of:
    (a) any vehicle involved in carrying out the said works.
    (b) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or the
    purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies
    of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the
    bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
    (c) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil
    Enforcement Officer.

SANDERSTEAD HILL, CR2: From Monday 4 August at 08:00 until Sunday 17 August at 16:00, ROUTE 403, in both directions, is on diversion via Selsdon Road, Upper Selsdon Road and Addington Road due to gas works. Towards West Croydon, stops from ‘Purley Downs Road’ to ‘Brambledown Road’ are not being served. Towards Warlingham, stops from ‘Carlton Road’ to ‘Purley Downs Road’ are not being served. Please allow extra time for your journey.

Status alert for route 359

SANDERSTEAD HILL, CR2: From Monday 4 August at 08:00 until Sunday 17 August at 16:00, ROUTE 359, towards Purley, is on diversion via Rectory Park, Mitchley Avenue, Downs Court Road, Godstone Road, Purley High Street and Brighton Road due to gas works. Stops from ‘Sanderstead Hill’ to ‘Norman Avenue’ are not being served. Please allow extra time for your journey.
