You may well have noticed works going on at Sanderstead Recreation Ground which started on Monday 1st September.
As we had no prior knowledge of these works we made enquiries through our local Councillors. For some reason the established procedures of installing informative signs prior to the works were not followed on this particular project and the Council apologise.
We were particularly concerned regarding the timescale because of the upcoming Sanderstead Community Day on Saturday 27th and have now received the following information from the Parks Department:
The aim of the project is to improve the path from the playground to the carpark, it could be split onto:
- Carpark to nursery, resurfacing. (purple below)
- Nursery to side changing rooms. Widening from 1.5m to 2 m (Yellow below)
- Side entrance to playground. Widening from 1.5m to 2 meters + upgrade from gravel path to tarmac. (orange bellow)

As per the latest update from the contractors, the orange section will be completed next week a there are no indications that the works will not be completed before the 27th.
Rest assure I will personally provide any relevant update as the project progress.
Interim Parks Development Manager.
