Residents and people working in Croydon can help shape the key priorities to tackle health inequalities and improve the health and wellbeing of people in the borough.

People can share their views in a consultation to develop the five-year Joint Local Health and Wellbeing Strategy for 2024-2029. This is a roadmap to creating a borough where everybody can achieve good health and wellbeing.

The draft strategy for consultation, led by Croydon’s Health and Wellbeing Board, has five priority areas to achieve this outcome, by improving partnership working with residents, the council, health, social care, community, voluntary and business sectors.

The priorities focus on good mental health, supporting people with the cost of living increases, well-connected communities, supporting children, young people and families, and helping the older population to live healthy, independent and fulfilling lives.

Views submitted in the consultation will help the Board to ensure the strategy has the right key priorities and principles to tackle health inequalities.

Complete the consultation here, before the closing date on Monday, 26 February 2024. The final strategy will be agreed by the Health and Wellbeing Board in the Spring.

Cllr Yvette Hopley

“This five-year Joint Local Health and Wellbeing strategy reflects our collective commitment to build a healthier Croydon, where everyone has an equal chance of achieving good health and wellbeing. The pandemic and the introduction of a new local healthcare system to improve partnership working, have resulted in changes to how we access health care in recent years. We are encouraging as many people as possible to take part in this consultation to ensure that we can adequately tackle health inequalities and meet the needs of everyone in our borough.”

  1. Obesity and type 2 diabetes are the main issues affecting the health of our nation. The unwillingness to cook fresh food, smaller portions more exercise. What about communal allotment and community coming together to cook as a group older generations showing the kids how it was done back in the day. More communal exercise groups walking, gentle stretching.
